The Brief
The design concept for two American Express corporate hospitality suites was sent to Envisage via our event partner Momentum Worldwide. ‘Wimbledon’ or ‘The Championship’ is located at the ‘All England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club’ in London and is commonly known for staging the oldest and most prestigious tennis tournament in the world.
American Express were one of the main event sponsors and wanted to make their presence known by hosting various brand experiences throughout the tournament, but to also take on two recently refurbished hospitality suits over a three-year period. These two suites came as blank canvases, and it was our job to prototype, manufacture and install the designer’s vision, so the American Express brand was portrayed correctly.

The Deliverables
Working closely with the Momentum Worldwide design team, our task was to bring their American Express design concept to life.
Two irregular shaped rooms which wrapped themselves around the centre court were to be the shell of both suites, each having a metre square footprint of around 85m2.
Key deliverables were premium materials and finish to match the American Express brand. Durability, as this was to be an elegant yet functional space that had to stand the test of time over a 3-year period. Finally, the look and feel of both suites had to be contemporary yet welcoming for all VIP guests who were lucky enough to receive an invite.
The Experience
Our partnership with Momentum Worldwide has seen us develop many wonderful, interesting, and sometimes strange briefs over the years and American Express at Wimbledon was no exception.
Working alongside their in-house designers, project managers and site operatives we were again entrusted to turn their amazing design concept into a reality.
To do this we begin by brainstorming, which sees the Envisage and Momentum teams meet for the first time since the concept was won. This is where we will finalise material choices and methods of construction, to ensure the result exceeds the client’s expectations. These brainstorming meetings are numerous but vital to the success of a project.
Aside of material choices and production methods, the other main aim of these meetings is to forge a united team across our two companies. This sees us working together in tandem, with a common goal to achieve the best.
Our Response
Feedback on the two hospitality suites was extremely positive. Both suites stood up to the daily wear and tear throughout the whole tournament, not just staff using the new facilities, but from those lucky guests who were invited to attend the Championships. Staff found the workstations and bars easy to use and incredibly durable. Whilst the guests relaxed in an environment that was clean, fresh, and contemporary, but remained welcoming and inviting.
Large-format prints and wallpapers transformed open wall spaces with informative text and gave depth. Whilst key walls behind the bar areas gave way to clever use of a mirror, floral explosions to give colour and TV screens so the guests could always keep up with the latest score on centre court. We were asked back to Wimbledon after the Championship as American Express wanted more elements adding to both spaces. Plus Envisage was chosen to work on the following year’s event, this time using our skills with interactive displays and public exhibitions throughout the whole tournament.
The Results
....thanks to the whole team who have worked tirelessly on the Wimbledon project. From the outset, it was clear that Envisage wanted this project to succeed as much as we did. The collaboration between both companies was faultless and we felt as though you were an extension of our team
