The Brief

Back in 1919, brothers Edgar and Ernest Barnes began making venetian blinds from a small workshop in Kidsgrove, Stoke on Trent. Fast forward more than 90 years and 4 generations later, Barnes Blinds are now one of the largest and longest established companies in window dressings, with beautiful made-to-measure blinds, curtains, and shutters, transforming homes across Staffordshire and Cheshire.

Envisage have worked alongside current Managing Director Adam Barnes since 2017, collaborating on the design and manufacture of product display units and potential showroom upgrades. But it was not until early 2021 that Adam finally made that all-important decision to transform their current showroom into something fresh, modern, and inviting.

With a keen eye for design, Adam already had ideas of what he wanted to see inside the new showroom, it was now our job to realise those dreams for him.

The Deliverables

We were tasked with delivering made to measure product display units for the showroom floor and perimeter walls, a brand-new bespoke reception counter that would enable staff to work more comfortably, whilst offering much needed storage solutions. Finally, two large bookcases were on the wish list to house their vast range of sample catalogues and brochures so customers could access them with ease whilst in the store.

Using bright white hardwearing laminates for the surface colour to all the displays, alongside cleverly positioned LED lighting we were able to offer a very modern and contemporary finish which worked wonderfully against the new vinyl flooring and crisp decoration that had already taken place.

The Experience

From the outset of every project, it is our mission to create a ‘team-like’ environment with every client we work with, so we fully appreciate their brief. It’s not until we work in this way that we then truly understand what they want, and more importantly, why they are doing it!

Our Response

Working alongside Adam and the team since 2017 has enabled us to work in this way perfectly, forming a strong working relationship that has allowed us to recognise their needs and appreciate why Barnes Blinds wanted the work to happen in the first place.

The Results

Following on from the installation Barnes Blinds has been inundated with new and existing customers all wanting to view the new and improved store.

The whole brand experience when visiting the store has now been transformed, making it a light and airy space with bright new bespoke showcases for customers to view their amazing range of products.

Not only has the space changed the way people now shop in-store, but it has revolutionised how the Barnes Blinds staff interact with their customers and work, making it an all-around better place to be in!
