Our Design & Build Process

The benefit of being a design and production agency means we can experiment and prototype ideas as we are working on them during the development phase. This means you will get exactly what has been designed, delivered in reality and not an interpretation. This internal collaboration between design, production and project management is finished by the inclusion of your team and is what allows us to deliver brand DNA in every customer touch point.

Understanding your brief

We believe that there should be a collaborative approach to designing. That starts with carefully reviewing your brief and agreeing on any requirements, deliverables, and ROI metrics. This process also helps us to understand your brand’s mission, values, and any stories you want to tell. Once we’ve got the basics down, we’ll then look to design you a creative environment that brings value to every interaction. After all, user experience is the benchmark from which to measure performance.

Research

Primary and secondary research are crucial parts of the design process, as this is where the detail is fleshed out. During this period, we work with you to create mood boards that communicate any ideas – saving time and expense.

The hardest part is often striking a balance within your design; getting the elements to work in harmony. For instance, the wrong colour, texture or choice of flooring could make the whole design less appealing, so we’ll meticulously go through the options with you.

Defining the graphic design

Graphics can often make or break a new design. Therefore, working with our designers is key to fleshing out the finer details. For instance, using texture and accent colours can transform a space by adding warmth through architectural materials.

This is where we’ll also discuss any creative ideas. If your design is going to be at an exhibition, it might be the first time you gain face-to-face contact with a client – so it’s worth thinking outside of the box! We’ll discuss a few different ways we can get the most out of your stand and develop opportunities for interaction.

Communication

Once we have a rough design sketch, we like to work with you on its development. By working with your account manager and proposal team we can develop your suggestions creatively and feedback on customer journey improvements, brand strengthening opportunities and budgetary control issues. We can only do this by good communication with you and your team and partnering from as early on in the project life as possible.

Design Development

Once a concept is agreed, the next stage is to sprinkle elements of your brand’s DNA into the finishes. We encourage all of our customers at this point to spend time at our Material Lab and discuss these elements in further detail. Here we will dive into everything from the sheen level to the Pantone match of your logo, keeping in line with your companies brand guidelines. We’ll then provide a full set of samples for the final sign off. Our team are pros at showing off your product in the best light. We’ll take the design and put it through an R&D journey to create prototype displays for testing. Then you get an idea of how it works in the real world.

Manufacturing

We have proven for many years that management and quality delivery is as important as creativity. As such, we have accumulated a roster of global strategic partners that help us to manufacture cost-effective exhibition stands and interiors in every corner of the world.

In addition, our integrated management systems are accredited to 1SO9001, 1SO22301, and 1SO27001 compliant standards, meaning that you can expect a quality product delivered to exacting requirements. Having this robust system in place also means that if there is ever a problem, we can resolve it immediately. For added reassurance, we prebuild all structural elements to check for alignments, colour matches, scale, and brand integrity. Again, we encourage you to collaborate during this process and let us know if there are elements you want to change.

Sustainability

We have always been conscious of our businesses’ impact on the environment That’s why we’ve operated as a carbon-neutral organization for nearly 20 years. For you, this means owning an exhibition stand made from reusable materials and using sustainable materials where possible for our interiors. Even bespoke elements aren’t wasteful – most are made from wood products (supplied by FSC accredited suppliers) that we turn into biomass at the end of its life. This renewable fuel then heats our production facilities!

Our ISO 140001 accreditation also lets you know that any waste we produce is segregated correctly for recycling.

Delivering

Unlike many of our competitors, we complete the entire design and build process in house. we have invested heavily into infrastructure and people – meaning we only have to rely on ourselves when it comes to completing your project.

Our integrated CRM/ERP platform controls our customer relationships and the full project ecosystem. It provides all stakeholders with a complete project overview, including technical drawings, order deadlines, and key contacts. You can access this 24/7 via the project portal.

In addition, this infrastructure allows us to operate as a designer, contractor, principal designer, principal contractor or any possible mixture under the CDM regulations. All of our site operatives are CSCS holders, and many of them are also SSSTS qualified. Our Project Management team are vastly experienced and trained in a mixture of SMSTS and Prince2.
